About us

OUR STORY

It was born from an idea

Actually, from a necessity.

The need to share everything I had learned, everything I had been lucky enough to discover in all those years of formation.

I felt like a little girl who finds a wonderful treasure.

So wonderful that she understands that she has to share it with the world.

It’s definitely not yours, it’s a loan, something that somehow has to be given back.

 See,

I’ve been very lucky

I have been fortunate to have great professionals who have not only passed on their incredible technical knowledge to me, they have conveyed to me above all their passion and love for painting and drawing.

I don’t say this just to say it, because it sounds good.

It was like that.

And it didn’t happen to me with all my teachers either, of course, that would have been very unusual.

It was a few who made a difference

but there they were when I needed them.

I’ve managed to get this far thanks to them.

I learned from them as they, in turn, learned from their teachers. And thanks to that transmission of knowledge, from generation to generation, the art of drawing and painting is still alive today.

See,

we’re really up on giants’ shoulders, and we can never forget that.

This is how in 2014 the Atelier Glez was born,

under the idea of transmitting technical knowledge and passion for this art

And that’s my main goal with you:

to learn the technique, to fall in love to the bone and to see the incredible gift of practicing this noble art.

Who is Sandra Glez

I was born in 1977, in a small town, Ahigal (Cáceres).

I studied Psychology and then did an HR master’s degree.

For some time I worked in consulting until one day, after much thinking, I left everything and went to Florence to train and learn the classic techniques of drawing and painting.

Later, I returned to Spain and began studying with Amaya Gurpide first and then with Jordan Sokol.

I have also studied at the BAA, in Sarum Studio with Antonio López, Golucho or Grzegorz Gwiazda, amongothers.

And I keep training, of course

This never ends.

Do you want to improve your drawings?

Do you really want to improve your drawings?

Most people who ask me say yes, if they want to improve their drawings. And when I ask them what they do for better, they tell me “I draw a lot, I copy things from instagram or pinterest”.

I’m sure you’ve done something like this. However, let me ask you, after so many hours of drawing, after so many copies, has the effort really paid off?

I don’t mean if you’ve improved a little bit, something always gets better, I mean if really, the result has been extraordinary.

Do you want extraordinary results?

Stop copying Bad Drawings Right Now

Stop wasting time copying other people’s mistakes, because that’s what you do when you pull down any pinterest or instagram drawing and copy it. Because, not only, you’re copying the drawing, but you’re also copying its owner’s mistakes.

And when I say copying, I mean learning, internalizing and making those mistakes yours, with everything that entails. It’s hard to get rid of bad habits, a lot. I see that at the Atelier every day.

Believe me, there are tons of bad drawings on the net with problems and mistakes of all kinds. If you want to learn and improve, copy worthwhile drawings that you can get an apprenticeship from.

Copy what works

How can you improve your drawings?

You don’t have to invent the wheel, everything is simpler, Copy what already works.

One of the most effective practice modes to improve your drawing is to copy masterpieces. That is, copy a reproduction of a work by a great master. And in case you need to refresh your memory you can see a list of the great masters here.

If you prefer, there are also a lot of really good contemporary artists who make amazing drawings. You can see a list Here.
